Get Your Kicks On Route 66

Posted on July 4th, 2009 by Our Generation

One of the best travel experiences I have had is motoring along Rute 66. Although the tradition is Chicago to LA, we travelled the opposite from LA to Chicago taking about 18 days to complete the journey.

If you are of the baby boomers generation or just love history this is one of those experiences that has to go on the bucket list. There are so many wonderful ‘moments’ along the way and you certainly get to see a diverse cross section of American culture. From ’standing on the corner in Winslow Arizona’ to the Arch in St Louis and meeting wonderful characters like Eddie Edwards who opened the “Pig Hip” restaurant at Broadwell, Illinois in 1937 and who remembers well the numbers of people who traversed Rote 66, you will find many fabulous experiences.

Have you travelled Route 66 the mother road?
