Stay In Paris Hotels While You Shop On Your Weekend Break

Posted on October 7th, 2010 by ogttravel

Paris is THE destination for any aspiring fashionista. Best of all, it’s only a little over two hours from central London, so a weekend break spent shopping in the French capital and staying in some of the luxurious Paris hotels is almost as convenient as a trip to anywhere else in the UK , but this is Paris we’re talking about here!

It is always smart to save on travel and accommodation when you are planning your Paris trip, after all, it means more money to spend in the shops! Cheap holidays to Paris are definitely a possibility and if you book the Eurostar in advance you can get a return journey for about £60.

There are Paris hotels for every budget and style as well, whether you’re looking for some classic sophisticated French chic or a simple bed and breakfast. It’s not all about where you’re staying though, so here is our list of places you won’t want to miss:

Rue de Rivoli

If you’ve arrived in Paris ready to shop til you drop and with cash to burn, this is the street you must head to first. This shopping district gets extremely busy on weekends though and is one of Paris’ largest. The nearby Metro Les Halles houses an enormous underground mall.

Galeries Lafayette and Printemps

The equivalent of Slefridges and Harrods in London, these stores are an unmissable destination. You can find all of the big name labels, as well as private merchandise in both stores, which are conveniently located next to each other. With plenty of Paris hotels nearby though, you will be welcoming a break from the shops, unless you are a truly hardcore shopper of course!

Champs-Elysées

Many of the top fashion houses in Paris can be found here. There are probably going to be a couple of pieces beyond your budget, but there is no harm in looking. These fabulous houses have everything from Cartier to Chanel to feast your eyes on. Remember, it will count as a fashion crime if you fail to visit the Louis Vuitton store on Champs Elysees though.
