The capital of Hungary, Budapest is getting more and more popular each year. Being the biggest city in the region, there is a lot to see, however when booking a hotel in Budapest, it can be hard to find just the right one.

The tourist hot spots of Budapest are in a 6 km circle most easily reachable by public transport, which is very good, even if the vehicles are a little shabby. Nevertheless, you need to find a good hotel, from which these areas are reachable and which meets your expectations. The hilly region on the right bank of the river Danube is Buda, which is mostly a green area, however there are some places with lots of traffic, as well. The Castle Hill and its surroundings are a relatively nice spot, where visitors can find several popular hotels, like the Buda Castle Hotel. You can walk around in the centuries old streets of the Castle District, visit the former Royal Palace, the Matthias Church and the other well-known spots of the Castle. The Gellért Hill with the Citadel and its unmatched view is in the neighborhood and it is also easy to reach the downtown area in Pest, on the left side of the Danube, where most shopping areas, pubs and clubs can be found.

When deciding onaccommodion on the downtown Pest side – which is preferred by most tourists  – it is recommended to stay within the Ring area or not too far from it. The financial district is near the Parliament and the National Bank, which is not a noisy part of the city, with no much traffic and less pubs and clubs. The Vaci utca area from the Great Market Hall to St Stephen Basilica is the typical tourist area with pedestrian zones, lots of shops, restaurants and pubs. It is somewhat noisy, but at least there are not many cars. One of the key amusement areas is to be found near Oktogon square: Liszt Ferenc tér is a preferred place for younger people with its terraced cafés and lovely restaurants. There are many hotels in the area, like the Hotel Queen Mary. You can find the “Budapest Broadway”  (Nagymezö utca) with its theatres, and the Opera House only a few steps away. Another famous amusement area is Ráday street, this is located near  Kálvin tér and the Great Market Hall, south from Vaci utca.

Budapest is a wonderful city to explore and this is just a brief summary of the possibilities, there are a lot of other places to visit in the city, and it won’t matter whether you stay in either Buda or Pest.
